Mrs. Diaz Pe - Second Grade

September News

Dear Second Grade Parents,

Can you believe we have been back for more than a month now?  We have had a great start.  Our second graders have been very busy getting to know each other, learning rules and procedures and tackling the standards for the year.  I think they have all adjusted well and that we will have a very successful year.

This will be a very busy month.  We will complete our first theme of the reading program on Friday, September 16.  After this date we will be completing assessments about concepts learned during this theme.  I will also be giving one on one fluency assessments.  I will send you the results of these assessments once I have completed all of them.

You will be receiving the first quarter progress report on Friday, September 16.  Please review these and return them, signed, on Monday, September 19. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  You can email kdiaz@columbkille.org, call (323)758-2284, or send a note with your child if you would like to set up an appointment.

Family Catechesis begins the week of September 19.  If are attending I will send a reminder as to the date you chose.  I know that this is a big commitment but I assure you that it will be so beneficial for your child.  Parents who have attended in the past have expressed how much they enjoy the class.  Those of you who sent me a note telling me you had previously attended do not need to attend again.  I have added your child to the list of those students receiving the sacraments this school year.

ITBS testing will also begin the week of September 19.  Second graders will take this test for the first time.  Please make sure that they get a good night's rest, eat a good breakfast and try their best.  Second graders will not be testing for the entire two weeks as stated in the calendar.  There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30.  I encourage you to attend.

A special thanks to the Mitchell family for donating a fan and water to our classroom.  Thank you also to the Ruiz family for donating water.  Thank you for all the work you do with your child at home. The students and I truly appreciate it.

Thank You,
Mrs. Diaz Pe
